"Nothing New"

"Nothing New" was one of the first songs that I had written and really had some meaning behind it. Something that people could relate to, something that seemed familiar. It has a very sombre tone to it, and is as the bassist from Second Order of Business would state, "Extremely Depressing." But nevertheless it is a song that I am very proud to have written and created. The words speak mainly for themselves. So I will let the song do the describing.
"Nothing New"
Well it seems, it seems to me.
That some things are hard to see.
With all of the words and all of the sounds,
To find your worth is so profound.
But the worth don't mean Nothing at all,
You'll always need someone to catch you when you fall.
__
Everybody is always looking for someone else.
Thinking that somebody is really somebody else.
Then the truth comes out and sheds some light.
And how does it end? In some stupid fight.
As for me, I'm happy not being dead.
Though sometimes I wonder what would have happened had I said:
__
Chorus
If I could have just found the time, I would have spent it with you.
And even though it isn't much, Honey it's all I can do.
But I know that that ain't Nothing New.
__
Drop it down, strike a chord.
Take me all the way and I found I wanted more.
For every night spent by the telephone.
For every night I thought you were alone.
And though three may be company.
One ain't not enough, no not for me.
__
I'm alone, once again.
There has got to be a way to break from this trend.
Singing sad songs by myself in the dark.
It feels like I'm not living my life, just playing a part.
Oh what a role, I seem to play.
I never did find the right words to say:
__
[Chorus]
__
Well I guess that ain't Nothing,
Though I know it could have been something.
I guess that I ain't Nothing New.

"The Song of the Night (One More Song)"

A personal favorite, The Song of the Night was created after much thought about the idea of an encore. Most bands only get them if they are headlining (sometimes not even then) and only if the crowd was left wanting more from them. The song tells the story of a band who leaves the stage from a good show, so good the crowd beginds to chant "One More Song." For anyone who has attended a rock concert is familiar with the three syllable phrase, to which the band (having no other songs to play) begins to create "The Song of the Night" off of the crowd's chant for a song.

"The Song of the Night (One More Song)"
It's amazing when the people sing to a song they never knew,
With their hands raised high, their throats all dry, and their hearts are oh so true.
But the band don't know what to sing--no they don't know what to do.
They just leave the stage and peel away like there's nothing they can do.

But those people disappointed think, "Oh no, that can't be all.
We ain't leaving here until we here just One More Song."
So they raise their voices to the sky and chant for something new,
And though the band is tired, their minds are wired there's only one thing they can do.

They sang a song and it came straight from the heart,
From every little second straight from the start.
'Cause they knew that the time was right,
And they couldn't stop the music of The Song of the Night.

The rhythm was in them in their heart and their soul,
There was an energy the many men had tried to control.
What they found was a living thing,
It made all the people get up and sing.

Chorus:
One More Song,
One More Song,
One More Song,
One More Song.
One More Song,
One More Song,
One More Song,
One More Song.

Once when I was a boy
I saw all of the people who were overjoyed.
Just moving to the music in the mid-day sun
Because they know there can be only one.
A song that sweeps you off your feet,
Makes you want to play it for whoever you meet.
But you know that you can't,
So you move along while singing the chant.

[Chorus]

[Solo Break]

Stop... I can't let it go.
The song keeps on going long after the show.
And it comes upon the people with out a sign,
And stays with the people 'till the end of time.
One More Song.
One More Song.

One More Song, One More Song, one for the years.
One More Song, One More Song, one for all the tears.
One More Song, One More Song, one for the road.
One More Song, One More Song, one before you go.

"Just The Other Day"

"Just The Other Day" is the first song that I composed with the help of my band. I came up with the idea for the song off the top of my head, as I seem to do often. And I wrote the first verse. The Interlude and the following two verses were co-composed by David (bassist), partially Uriel (former lead guitarist), and myself.

The song is ficticious of course this event did not actually happen to me. But it is a fun song, and it seems to be the crowd favorite. Enjoy.

"Just The Other Day"
Just The Other Day I was walking down the street.I saw a girl and boy she looked so sweet
She said, "What's up, how you doin' man?" I said, "Oh, baby I don't have a plan"
She said, "Cool it don't you sweat or worry about every single day's just another bout
With the God up ahead though you're feeling bad. All you need to know is that you can"
So I said, "I don't know who the hell you are. And all you know about me is I play the guitar
But you know you're right you make a good point." So she said, "Why don't we head to my joint?"

So I said "Oh,
I don't know.
That's not me.
But it could be,
If I was
Somebody else."

So I was playing in a club, and who did I see? That very same girl looking up at me.
And after the show when everyone left she hit me in the head with a baseball bat.
And later on that night when I came to I found myself alone, what do I do?
When I'm bound and gagged to a fold-up chair, and they shaved the hair
Off my head and you hear a voice of a burley man who gives you a choice
Of life or death saying, "listen to me, I'll give you to the count of three."

So I said "Oh
I don't know
What to do anymore
because I
just can't see."

So what did I find it was all a prank set up by my friends and this guy named Frank.
They paid that girl to follow me, and that guy to scare the crap out of me.
And why did they do it, you might expect some reasoning for putting me through such heck
With a shaved head and a nasty bruise you might wonder just what did I do.
Well the thing is they didn't know what to say, and it just so happened it was my birthday
So instead of getting me a birthday card, they thought it was funnier to leave me scarred.

Oh
I hate those guys
So very much
But I think they'll be
Rather
Sorry.
